Frequently Asked Questions

MoDeck is at the prototype and waitlist stage. Here is the honest state of things.

What is MoDeck?

MoDeck (by Sparkid) is a safe, parent-controlled handheld game console for kids where children don’t just play games — they build them. It is the only handheld that runs Scratch projects natively, and it also supports visual blocks, Python, and AI “vibe coding.”

What can kids play and make on it?

MoDeck runs Scratch projects as they are — the same games kids already make. A game that lagged in the Scratch web player or TurboWarp runs smoothly on the hardware. On top of full Scratch compatibility, kids can build with visual blocks, Python, or by telling the AI what they imagine, then publish their game back to the community with one tap.

Who is MoDeck for?

It is designed for kids roughly ages 6–14, and it is made for creators. Every game in the library is made by kids their age, and any project can be remixed or built from scratch. Older kids (around 9–14) can lead younger ones in creating together.

Is MoDeck safe for kids?

Yes. There are no ads, no in-app purchases, no loot boxes, no infinite feeds, and no addiction mechanics of any kind. Every game is made by kids and curated for kids. Parents control the experience from a phone: daily play-time limits, earn-back time through tasks like homework, age filters, allowed game categories, and a bedtime lock.

Is it gentle on the eyes?

MoDeck uses a soft-light screen with an enforced viewing distance and session limits — screen time with guardrails, by default, not by nagging. Exact display specs are coming soon.

When will MoDeck be available?

MoDeck is at the prototype and waitlist stage — it is not for sale yet. Join the waitlist to get early access and build-in-public updates as the product comes together.

How much will it cost?

Pricing is not finalized yet. People on the waitlist get founder pricing and early access when MoDeck launches.

What do the figures marked with an asterisk (*) mean?

Figures marked * on the site — things like community counts, benchmark multiples, and FPS badges — are placeholders for this prototype stage, pending real data and product confirmation. Full methodology and audited numbers are coming.

Are the images and photos on the site real?

The illustrations and product photos are AI-generated placeholder art for this prototype. The final experience will use real captures of community games, with creator credits shared with parental consent.
